Wolverine

Wolverine here was a little tricky to do but I think he ended up pretty well in the end, a bit cartoony but I like the style and how it came out in the end. I usually draw Wolverine in his modern Astonishing/New Avengers costume, which I think is a really nice rework of his trademark tiger-stripe yellow outfit made popular during Claremont's early run and the classic X-Men animated series, but I've been reading Jim Lee's 90's X-Men run lately and I just have this stronger affinity to this brown costume. Plus it looks way fiercer than his yellow outfit, and much more iconic compared to his new X-Force costume as well. Hope I did justice to the character with this!

UPDATE v3: After more than two years I've been going back to my older pieces and revamping them to match them up with my newer pieces and to set a consistent look for my whole portfolio. Pieces like Iron Man and Magneto are looking much better than ever before, but there was always one that nagged me on and on. That was this piece, Wolverine. Now after completely taking the piece apart and starting from scratch, I'm finally content with it.

The main issue I had was his face. The old version looked too wide and messed up, hence I slimmed it down a but and put more emphasis on his eyes. The proportions of his body were also originally off, so I erased most his body and drew newer ones on him, giving him a better, more proportional body this time around. The position of his arms was another main issue I had, and now he's doing a more iconic Wolverine pose with his arms and claws turned the other way around.

I also fixed the detailing and colour scheme of his costume, opting to go for a more vibrant red to match the way he was depicted during the late Claremont years before Jim Lee came in. Comparing this to the old one is baffling in every way. I can't even stand looking at the old one, and I'm glad I've finally depicted Logan in the best way possible. Snikt!!
