Valkyrie

It's been a while since I've posted here because of thesis work in school, and for so long I didn't have any time at all to work on any new pieces. Thankfully I'm now on my summer break I can finally get back to finishing up some works, and first up is Valkyrie!

I have to be honest, I know next to nothing about the character save that she's from Asgard and that she was on the Secret Avengers. I was just in the mood to draw someone Asgardian and I always thought her costume looked really awesome so here she is! What I enjoyed most with this piece is the Asgardian accents on her armor and weaponry, and I really wanted to bring out a Game of Thrones-esque vibe about her. The armor pieces on her costume were done with intricate detail, and I put extra work on her sword and spear as well to make them stand out.

I opted to draw her looking really tall and imposing to give out that godly aura about her, and the longer legs on her really do give out that look I was going for. The cape was a necessary part of the piece and I like how the blue breaks up the monopoly of the costume and give her a sense of royalty.

I may not know much about Valkyrie, but the fact that she looks really awesome made my decision in working on her. I've been meaning to pick up Fearless Defenders which features her teaming up with Misty Knight and Dani Moonstar, and hopefully I enjoy reading about her as much as I enjoyed working on her in this piece.
