Description
Here's a quick preview of the next piece I'm working on, which is actually seven individual pieces which I'll be putting together into one huge shot once I (finally) finish them all. I've been meaning to do this for quite some time now, and I put a lot of consideration in the positioning of the characters and how/why/where they're all situated. I wanted Jean to be the centerpiece of this shot, mainly because of the respect I have for her as the first female in the X-Men. Her pose evokes a sort of relaxedness about her, which I thought was a good fit since Jean wasn't the strictest in the group nor was she the most casual either. The angle of her head shows a little more personality too than if it was merely just posed straight ahead, and in doing this I just really wanted to distance Jean's body language from the six others I'll be working on that'll be around her.
I carried over how I worked on my two previous pieces with how I did this one, with pencils, inks, colors, and a little mix of different brushes here and there to help make the piece pop. I'm not so in tune with my inks yet but I'm very pleased with how it turned out here, and I'm really happy also with how the green and the golds meshed well together. The gold parts were very difficult for me since this was my first time to work on a "shiny" material, and I guess the mix of inks with white and gold brush strokes helped give off the shine I wanted in the end. Her hair turned out really great too, with it not being too red and more of a striking orange to help it mesh better with the greens of her outfit.
Like I said, this is only the first of seven pieces that will connect together to make a bigger piece, and I hope I get to finish them soon to get the final output done. This piece was made to look like a photo of sorts with the white border, and the background isn't the final output just yet since I'm waiting to finish the seven before going into detail with the overall environment. I hope you all like this and that it's enough to get you excited for the other six!

You did an excellent job on the poster, but my favorite one is Phoenix. She looks amazing as a centerpiece, but on her own here she looks even more spectacular. Its very nice to see a relaxed picture of Phoenix that isn't covered in flames or shooting out firebirds. And her tilted head expression is very serene, full of love; the natural calm she controls the Phoenix Force with. Love the longer classic hairstyle too. Many of your other artworks are awesome!
